DEPARTMENT OF PESTICIDE ANALYSIS
Department of Pesticide Analysis carries on in its scope of work the legacy of the first Polish independent chemical laboratory that was established over 40 years ago with an intend to control the quality of pesticides of national and foreign origin, being distributed and used in Poland.
The Department conducts experiments, implementation studies and technical control projects regarding physical chemistry of pesticide preparations, analyses of biologically active ingredients, contaminants, quality parameters of commercial preparations as well as quality control of technical concentrates used for pesticide manufacturing.
An important subdivision is a separate laboratory (in a separate building) responsible for analyses of trace amounts of pesticides, i.e. the residues of chemicals in plants, soil and water.
For years, the Department has been and independent unit that issues expert statements and opinions in cases of quality disputes and other claims and instances, where a pesticide biological efficacy was contested or its phytotoxic action was found faulty.

DEPARTMENT OF PESTICIDE EFFICACY TESTING
Department of Pesticide Efficacy Testing conducts scientific experiments within the framework of projects and programs as outlined by the PPI statute. Besides its scientific studies, the Department provides services with respect to pesticide efficacy testing for the purpose of their registration in Poland, as well as studies on new technologies of pesticide application.
Under broad scientific subjects, the Department performs a range of specific experiments and it has had a special place within the overall PPI structure carrying out biological analyses for Department of Pesticide Analysis. Their collaboration covers pesticide quality studies, which include the biology of pathogens and their occurrence in southern and central Poland. Among others, the experiments focus on controlling wheat fungal diseases and rape pests; assessing the impact of herbicides and different fertilization levels on the qualitative properties of cereal grain and also combined application of agrochemicals. The Department conducts studies intended to develop scientific bases for cultivated plants protection programs, followed by their practical implementation and constant modernization, with attention being paid to sustainable agricultural practices, integrated pest management and the safety of people and the environment. Its activities and services include dissemination of knowledge and principles of good laboratory practice, implementation and counseling.
The Department operates according to the quality system established by Standard No. PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2001. On August 18, 2003 it obtained a certificate of accreditation No. AB 440 issued to research laboratories by Polish Center for Accreditation in Warsaw.
